The Doula: A Dad’s Perspective, Part 1

Many expecting mothers who consider having a doula wonder if her partner will be supportive of the idea. Some dads-to-be are afraid that their role might be replaced in the birth process. Other fathers wonder if having a doula is really a benefit to the mom if they as a partner are supportive or if a good OB, nurse, or midwife is present. I address more of the benefits to having both a doula and loving partner present at the birth on my FAQ page, but I thought I’d share with you what a couple of the fathers of my clients had to say about their perspectives on having a doula. This will be the first in my series called The Doula, A Dad’s Perspective. Enjoy, and share it with your friends! Please include a link to this site (mamamatters.com) when sharing. Thanks!

Keep checking back for updates! Also, if there are any other topics you think might be good to see a video on, leave a comment! Thank you to INLIGHT Productions™ for producing the videos.

These are excellent videos! I feel these dads express exactly how I felt before and after birth with our doula present. Especially as a first time dad the knowledge and experience a doula brings alleviates so much worry and concern about the big moment. It allowed me and my wife to focus more on the experience and less on things going wrong or our birth plan falling apart. Again great videos!
